When a business is ready to apply
Funders read deposits. If you have not opened yet, there is little for them to work with, and the first step is to begin trading. If you have been operating for a few months, you may already have what we ask for: about three months of business bank statements. We require no tax returns, the credit pull is soft, FICO scores of 500 and above are considered, and sole proprietors can apply. Funding runs from $25,000 to $5,000,000 and can arrive in as little as 24 hours. We do not state a minimum time in business or revenue here.
What the local setting offers a new owner
Wikipedia calls Oceanside a popular tourist destination and the most populous city in the North County region of San Diego, with 174,068 residents at the 2020 census. It also describes the Oceanside Transit Center as a major railway interchange, where Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, Metrolink, Coaster and the Sprinter all meet. That much movement past the downtown means more people to see a new storefront or cart. The article's description of a downtown cultural district with museums and theaters, and a Thursday-evening Sunset Market, suggests where new food, craft and service businesses can find early customers.
The cost sequence of a first year
| Month | Typical pressure |
|---|---|
| 0 to 1 | Deposit, build-out, permits, first stock |
| 2 to 3 | Payroll before regular customers form |
| 4 to 6 | Slow season, if you opened into the peak |
| 6 to 12 | The first repeat orders, and the first real picture of margin |
For illustration only: an owner who opens a shaved-ice cart with $20,000 of equipment and stock, and who sells mainly in the warm months, should plan how the cart pays its costs through winter before asking for anything.
Prepare the file
- One business account for every sale and expense.
- A one-sentence use of funds.
- Your slowest week since opening.
- A list of what you owe, personal credit included.
Sizing the request
New owners tend to ask for the whole dream when the next ninety days would do. Aim the money at what directly produces sales, such as the equipment, the first stock or the vehicle, and let early revenue carry overhead. A smaller request with a cushion reads as more credible than a large one with no slack, and a lighter payment is easier to survive if the first season runs below plan. Keep personal and business money apart from the first day; mixed statements are hard to read and slow any review.
What comes next
When deposits are steady, working capital and a line of credit are easier to justify, and equipment financing suits a specific asset. Apply here.
