What it covers
Equipment financing is for a specific physical asset: a commercial oven, a boat or trailer used in the business, a delivery vehicle, a fabrication machine, a compressor, a salon chair. Because the asset produces revenue, you can compare what it costs each month with what it earns. Terms depend on the asset and the business and are not published here. Funding runs from $25,000 to $5,000,000 and can arrive in as little as 24 hours.
The equipment you see around Oceanside
- Harbor and waterfront. Wikipedia mentions a harbor with a lighthouse, shops, restaurants and hundreds of boats, and a city that operates a small craft harbor. Charter, rental and repair businesses depend on boats, trailers, engines and shop tools.
- Restaurants and bars downtown. The downtown cultural district draws visitors on foot, and kitchens there depend on hoods, coolers and espresso equipment.
- Trades. Interstate 5 runs through the area, and Wikipedia calls Oceanside the last city before Orange County when traveling north. Contractors, installers and mobile service companies buy trucks and trailers to cover the corridor.
- Surf and sports retail. Racks, display cases, board repair gear and signage.
Does it earn more than it costs?
| Asset | Revenue test |
|---|---|
| Charter or rental boat | Booked days in the shoulder months, not just summer |
| Delivery van | Routes you are declining today |
| Kitchen line | Covers per hour you cannot serve now |
| Shop machine | Waiting orders you can write down |
For illustration only: a $55,000 trailer and truck package that adds two extra jobs a week at $800 each brings in $6,400 a month before fuel, labor and insurance. If those eat most of it, the payment has to fit in what is left, and the test should be repeated for a slow month.
Buying it right
Get the vendor quote in writing before you apply so that the amount you request matches the purchase. Add delivery, installation and any permits. Compare new and used honestly: used is cheaper to start but can cost more to maintain, particularly around salt air and a coastal climate where metal ages quickly.
Coastal wear and the real cost of ownership
Equipment near the water ages faster than equipment inland. Salt air corrodes fittings, damp storage ruins electronics and boat engines need regular flushing. When you compare a purchase price with the financed amount, add maintenance, storage and insurance to the monthly cost. A cheaper unit that needs constant repair can cost more over its life than a better one that stays in service. Ask the vendor about service intervals and expected life, and write them next to the quote.
Applying
We consider FICO scores of 500 and above, ask for about three months of business bank statements, require no tax returns, and use a soft credit pull on a five-minute application. Sole proprietors can apply. For needs wider than one asset, see term loans or working capital. Apply here.
