The city at a glance
Yuba City is the county seat of Sutter County. It had 70,117 residents in the 2020 census and covers about 15.06 square miles, while Sutter County overall has 99,633 people. Public sources list its metro area as the 21st largest in California, ranked behind Redding and Chico. So it is a mid-sized regional center, large enough to have its own retail corridors, medical offices and trades, and small enough that business owners tend to know one another.
Three owner profiles and what each needs
The service-trade owner
Roofers, HVAC techs, landscapers and electricians buy materials before billing. Their slowest stretch is waiting on customer payment, not finding work.
The retailer or restaurateur
Rent and payroll are fixed and weekly sales vary. A bad month can eat a thin reserve quickly, and replacing a walk-in cooler or point-of-sale system is the type of cost that cannot wait.
The professional office
Medical, dental, accounting and insurance offices have steady monthly overhead. Reimbursement cycles can leave several weeks between work done and money in the bank.
Each has a different reason to want capital, and a different way to prove they can carry it: their bank statements.
What bank statements show that credit scores do not
A credit score summarizes personal borrowing history. Three months of business bank statements show something different: how much comes in, how consistently, and how it moves out again. We ask for about three months, and we consider FICO scores of 500 and above. That is why a business with a rough credit year but healthy deposits can still be reviewed. No tax returns are required, and the application uses a soft credit pull.
A worked example, for illustration only
Imagine a small landscaping and tree-service company that wins several larger contracts at once. Each job needs a crew, fuel and rented equipment, and the customers pay roughly a month after completion. For illustration, suppose the extra crew and equipment cost $50,000 before the first customer payment arrives. The business is profitable on paper, yet the owner would drain the operating account to start the work.
Working capital covers that start-up stretch. As customers pay, deposits rebuild the account. The numbers here are round figures for explanation and are not our terms, rates or a typical result.
The same pattern applies to a restaurant adding a second location, a clinic adding a provider, or a shop buying a larger stock order to meet a volume discount. In each case the cost lands first and the benefit follows.
Size and speed
Funding runs from $25,000 to $5,000,000, and can be funded in as little as 24 hours. The application takes around five minutes. Sole proprietors can apply. Choose an amount your monthly cash flow can carry through its slowest month, not just the amount that solves today's problem.
What not to do
- Do not borrow to cover a loss that repeats every month with no plan to change it.
- Do not request the largest amount just because it is available.
- Do not wait until payroll is due tomorrow to start the process.
Plain advice, but it is the difference between a useful bridge and a new problem.
