Little Saigon and the shape of local business
Westminster was incorporated on March 27, 1957, and covers about 10.04 square miles. At the 2020 census it had 90,911 residents, which makes it compact and busy. It has one of the largest Vietnamese populations in the United States: public sources count 39,799 Vietnamese Americans, or 43.8% of the city, and describe Westminster as the "capital" of overseas Vietnamese, centered on Little Saigon.
For a business owner, that history means a commercial landscape built from many independent operators: restaurants and bakeries, nail and hair salons, jewelers, bridal and clothing shops, medical and dental offices, tax and insurance services, and grocery and specialty food sellers. Santa Ana, the county seat, lies to the east, and Garden Grove and Huntington Beach are among the neighboring cities.
Family businesses and the problem of one big month
Many independent businesses in a tightly knit commercial district see their year organized around a few big weeks: holiday and lunar-calendar celebrations, wedding season, graduation, back-to-school. Inventory has to be bought, extra staff scheduled and sometimes a space refreshed weeks before the money comes in.
- Restaurants and food sellers buy ingredients, packaging and extra labor ahead of a big weekend, then recover cash over the days that follow.
- Retail and bridal pay suppliers months before a season and sell through slowly.
- Professional offices carry fixed rent and staff while insurance reimbursements or client payments trail by weeks.
A short checklist before you request funding
- Write down the one specific thing the money does: stock, a refit, a hire, equipment, or covering a payment gap.
- Pull your last three months of business bank statements.
- Check that the business account is the one customers actually pay into.
- Decide how much monthly cash flow you can set aside without squeezing payroll.
That last step is the one owners skip. A larger amount is not automatically better; the right figure is the one the business can carry through its slowest month.
How the application works
We fund from $25,000 to $5,000,000, and funding can arrive in as little as 24 hours. The application is about five minutes with a soft credit pull. We consider FICO scores of 500 and above, ask for about three months of bank statements, and do not require tax returns. Sole proprietors, including home-based and family-run operators, can apply.
Because tax returns are not part of the process, a business that has had a mixed filing year is not shut out; the recent bank activity is what carries the review.
