What Wikipedia says about the county
Butte County had 211,632 people in the 2020 census, with Oroville as the county seat, according to Wikipedia. It is in the northern Central Valley, north of Sacramento, and it makes up the Chico metropolitan area. It is drained by the Feather River, Butte Creek and Big Chico Creek, and part of its western edge follows the Sacramento River. California State University, Chico, founded in 1887, and Butte College are both here. The county was one of California's 27 original counties, incorporated in 1850.
Two towns, two rhythms
| Chico | Oroville | |
|---|---|---|
| Anchor | A state university and a large municipal park (Bidwell Park) | The county seat, on the Feather River below the dam |
| Revenue pattern | Follows the academic calendar | Follows local trade, visitors and the county seat's services |
| Typical stress | A thin summer | Steady costs, uneven receipts |
Wikipedia notes that Bidwell Park in Chico is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States, and the county's steep Sierra slope has made it a site for hydroelectric plants, one of which serves the Oroville Dam.
Rebuilding is a business problem too
Wikipedia describes the Camp Fire of November 2018 as destroying most of the town of Paradise and the adjacent community of Concow, and calls it California's most destructive and deadliest fire. It also notes that the Park Fire ignited in Bidwell Park in July 2024. Owners affected by events like these know that a disaster reorders cash flow: customers move, insurance pays slowly, and equipment and stock must be replaced before income returns. For an owner in that position, the useful questions are how long replacement takes, which costs come first and what can be restarted with a smaller step. We do not state any particular outcome, and every file is reviewed on its own statements.
For illustration only
A Chico food business with $14,000 of monthly rent and $22,000 of payroll sees student traffic drop over the summer break. If sales cover only $25,000 of that $36,000 fixed cost for twelve weeks, the shortfall is a planning number, not a failure of the business. Round numbers, not our terms or a prediction.
A habit that makes any file clearer
A practical step for any owner here is to separate the seasonal pattern from a real change. A drop in June is a calendar. A drop that persists into October is something else, and it is worth explaining separately on the application. Reviewers read three months of statements, so give a sentence or two of context for any month that looks unusual.
Using the pages that fit
Read the city page that is closest to you, and use the product explanation that matches your need. A seasonal gap points to working capital; a vehicle or kitchen replacement points to equipment financing. Either way:
What we offer is the same everywhere in the state: funding from $25,000 to $5,000,000, in as little as 24 hours once approved. We consider FICO scores of 500 and above, ask for about three months of business bank statements, do not require tax returns, and use a soft credit pull on a roughly five-minute application. Sole proprietors can apply.
